Going to DC, LA, New York, Chicago, Portland, or San Francisco? Free Museum Admissions Await

Enjoy free admission to some top museums in 6 cities thanks to Google’s Field Trip app, available free for IOS and Android.
For a limited time you can visit any of these museums for free:

  • Conservatory of Flowers, San Francisco
  • California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco
  • Walt Disney Family Museum, San Francisco
  • Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles
  • Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago
  • Adler Planetarium, Chicago
  • The Field Museum, Chicago
  • Museum of the City of New York, New York
  • Museum of Arts and Design, New York
  • National Building Museum, Washington, DC
  • Portland Children’s Museum, Portland, OR
  • Portland Art Museum, Portland, OR
  • Pittock Mansion, Portland, OR

If you are near any of these museums, you will get a Field Trip card with “Free Entry” in the title (check the ‘nearby’ tab). Just show the card on your phone to the admissions staff.

I have not experimented much with the Field Trip app, but did use it on my recent trip to Lehi, UT.  After indicating an interest in cool, hidden, and unique things nearby, the app pulled up interesting information on local architecture, historic places, museums, and most fun of all — movie locations.

  1. Deb, great timing! I leave for Portland tonight and hopefully can save a few dollars this way 🙂 Would be even better if this is still valid in July for a few Chicago museums… Thanks!

    • This is a great deal for Chicago museums. They don’t specify an expiration date for the offer. The Field Trip app can point you to a lot of quirky attractions if that’s your thing.

  2. Thanks for following BuildingMyBento! If you have any suggestions for posts, please let me know!

Thanks for this post on free museum admission too- hopefully, more locations will be added in NYC and Philadelphia.
