When traveling with family or friends, do you ever wish you could afford to book two adjoining rooms? You can, and for the same price you would pay for a single hotel room!
Over the Thanksgiving holiday we arranged a rendezvous with my sister in the Utah Valley. We were treating her to a holiday visit — and room prices were high because of the holiday weekend. As we walked out of the lobby of the newly renovated Hampton Inn in Sandy, Utah, I looked at her and asked, “Do you think all of these people know about Priceline, or are they paying full price?”
A light bulb went off in my head. A lot of people are afraid to use Priceline because they don’t know how or are afraid they won’t get a nice hotel. Or they may think, I need a room with two beds.
I am known in my family as the Priceline Queen because of my knack of finding cheap rooms at nice hotels. I should start a blog to share my money-saving tricks!
In this instance, we were able to reel in two rooms at $43 each per night in the 2.5* Hampton Inn Salt Lake City/Sandy. This was a savings of exactly 51 percent — allowing us the uncommon luxury of booking two rooms for our stay. The hotel has a 4* rating on Trip Advisor
Of course with Priceline, adjoining rooms are not guaranteed but the front desk clerk was very accommodating. It was super fun to be able to share two rooms between the three of us.
The hotel had a contemporary decor, offered a free hot breakfast, and featured a beautiful indoor swimming pool and hot tub with views of the Wasatch Range. We enjoyed the exercise room, the 24-hour hot beverages in the lobby, and the bagged breakfasts to go for those in a hurry.
The Hampton Inn Sandy is in the Sandy-South Valley-Draper zone of Salt Lake City on Priceline. It is located right off I-15 near the giant South Towne Center Mall. The hotel is in a cluster of similar properties and there is a convenient Jake’s restaurant across the street.
Why don’t you give Priceline a try sometime? This blog can show you how!
If you’ve hooked a terrific deal on Priceline, please share the details in the comments below. Thanks!
Sandy is really close to Salt Lake and a decent drive to Park City, Sundance and ski areas. No reason to pay 3 times as much to stay exactly where you want to visit.
Michelle Shy is right — a lot of skiers prefer to save money by staying in Sandy, rather than up at the resorts.
