Today my thoughts turn to the families who lost loved ones on 9/11.
Today is also my birthday.
Today while most people are remembering the tragedy that occurred 12 years ago, I find my inbox overflowing with birthday greetings from various frequent flyer and loyalty programs.
It’s strange. I guess birthdays are big business, and loyalty programs everywhere are getting on the bandwagon.
These are the birthday benefits I’ve racked up:
- ANA: $20 discount on next flight
- Alamo: a free day on next car rental
- Southwest: a birthday card/picture frame
- Virgin America: 10% off any flight
- Panera: a special surprise
- Godiva: $10 off a purchase of $10
- Baskin Robbins: one small ice cream cone
- Starbucks: a hand-crafted beverage or food item
- Vera Bradley: 40% off any item
- Sally Beauty: $10 off a $20 purchase
None of these are blockbusters; but they almost take the sting out of turning one year older.
Hip2Save has compiled a gigantic list of over 130 birthday benefits offered by various restaurants and retailers.
Please share your thoughts about any of this in the comments below.
Happy Birthday to You!
Thank you, Terry.
Happy Birthday! Were you able to max out on your free birthday items?
Hi Voyaging Doc! The only thing I took advantage of was the Vera Bradley discount. I guess that places me in a certain demographic.
my brother’s bday is also on 9/11…..happy belated bday! How did you get the SW gift? I never got anything from them
I have the Southwest credit card. A few months ago, they sent me 4 free drink coupons, which I have used for giveaways to readers.
I wish I had seen this before my birthday! Nice blog theme, very creative!
Thank you, Tara. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures of real angry birds!
