Travelbite has a timely story this week about how locations featured in films nominated for the Academy Awards have experienced a surge of interest on Hotwire.
The films under discussion are:
Lincoln, filmed in Washington, DC;
Les Miserables, filmed in Paris;
Skyfall, with the opening scenes filmed in Istanbul; and
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, filmed in New Zealand.
Hotwire experienced an 129 per cent increase in searches for hotels in New Zealand in December, with searches for bookings in Istanbul increasing by 50 percent.
